As 2023 draws to a close, Foundations For Tomorrow reflects on a year marked by achievements, inspiring collaborations, and a steadfast commitment to fostering a sustainable and equitable future for all generations.

The Australian Parliamentary Group for Future Generations
This year, the Australian Parliamentary Group for Future Generations emerged as a beacon in forward-thinking governance. Over 20 senators and members of Parliament, led by Mrs Bridget Archer MP, Ms Zaneta Mascarenhas MP, and Dr Sophie Scamps MP, united across political affiliations to prioritise the prosperity of future generations in Australia's policies. The work of the group throughout the year resulted in the creation of a shared strategy for advancing future generations policy in Australia, and the group’s end of year symposium featured a keynote address from Hon Dr Anne Aly MP, emphasising the importance of integrating young voices in policy-making for a sustainable future.
Our co-chairs provided steadfast support and enabled the group to exceed its ambitions for its first year. We are pleased to continue our collaboration with them into 2024!

Launch Of The Intergenerational Fairness Coalition
In April, we collaborated with EveryGen, Foundation for Young Australians, Orygen, and Think Forward to host the inaugural National Summit for Intergenerational Fairness, with keynote speaker Sophie Howe, the world’s first Future Generations Commissioner. We nurtured this collaboration throughout the year to provide the foundation for the Intergenerational Fairness Coalition, a group of 16+ organisations advocating for policies that encompass long-term sustainability and intergenerational equity.

Investing in the Our Leaders
Foundations for Tomorrow is proud to have entered its second year of collaboration with the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales - the world leader in legally enshrined future generations policy! This partnership focuses on investing in the capacity building of emerging leaders and policy leaders through the Future Generations Leadership Accelerator and the Policy Leader Toolkit. These projects have now reached more than 1,000 leaders from 42 countries worldwide, increasing their literacy in ‘future generations’ issues.

International Advocacy & A Statement of Commitment for Our Future
Foundations for Tomorrow has continued to build its reputation as a credible player in the international future generations landscape, becoming active members in key networks such as the Network of Institutions for Future Generations and the Future Pioneers Network, as well as presenting at relevant global events such as the Global Parliamentary Congress in Lithuania and the Dubai Futures Forum.
At the Dubai Futures Forum, Foundations for Tomorrow launched the "Statement of Commitment for the Summit of the Future" alongside the School of International Futures. This Statement outlines objectives for a high-ambition Summit of the Future, the upcoming global event hosted by the United Nations in September 2024. We're focusing on leveraging this pivotal global moment to maximise its positive impact on our collective future.

Our Team is Growing!
We are excited to announce the newest addition to the Foundations for Tomorrow team, Chami Rupasinghe, joining us as the Director of Operations & Development. With a rich background as a social entrepreneur, lawyer, and educator, Chami embodies resilience and innovation. Her diverse experiences, from law to community engagement, and her dedication to accessible legal education, showcased through her founding of Law Wise Youth, make her an invaluable asset to the FFT mission. Chami's role marks a significant step in our journey towards empowering future generations!

Celebrating New Partnerships
2023 also marked the start of a new partnership for Foundations for Tomorrow, being a recipient of the Mannifera Signature Grant. We extend our deepest gratitude to Mannifera, whose unwavering support has been a cornerstone of our efforts.
